Exposure?

What is it???
Exposure is the amount of light received by the image sensor during the process of taking photo. It will depends whether the picture is over expose or under expose.

Over expose: the picture is too bright
Under expose: the photo is too dark.


Aperture vs. Exposure

From the previous post, Aperture there is a picture to show you the size of the lens diaphragm.

When the aperture is set f/2 the diameter of the lens diaphragm is big which also means more light could be received by the image sensor. So the lower the aperture value, the bigger the lens diaphragm, the more light could go thru and you would not get a under expose picture! :D




Shutter Speed vs. Exposure

Remember I wrote that 1/50 means in 1 second it could open and close 50 times?
So what if 1/700? it could open and close 700 times in 1 second right?

In that case the time for the image sensor to received the light will be short so it might not be able to received enough light and your pictures would be under expose.

To use a high shutter speed you must make sure that the surrounding is bright or the ISO is high (so that it will be more sensitive to light) in order to have a good image! :)





It might be hard to adapt it all for now. But take your time to understand and play with your camera.
